Most platforms track whether people completed something. That's not useless, but it's also not the thing you care about most.
What you care about is how quickly knowledge moves through your organisation when it matters. An urgent policy change needs to be sent our today. How long before the people who need to know it, know it? Completion rate doesn't answer that. It just tells you it happened eventually.
The engagement metric in Cognexo works differently. It measures the average number of days between content being delivered and a user answering it. A score of 1 means answered on the same day. A score of 2 means the following day. The lower the number, the faster information is travelling.
We were walking through this with a new team yesterday and used this example. If you run a broadcast to communicate an urgent process or policy change, the engagement average tells you how long it will take to land.
- Sent via email, you couldn't predict this, you also couldn't track understanding or acknowledgement.
- Sent via cognexo, you know how long it will take to disseminate, and get an ironclad acknowledgement. You can then run knowledge checks on the change to gauge understanding and application too.
