We use the Bank Holiday data available in each user's region settings to determine when to pause content. If there is a public holiday in your region, Cognexo will not deliver any questions on that day. This ensures users are not expected to engage during recognised time off.
Where can I see upcoming public holidays?
To view which public holidays apply to a specific user:
- Go to People.
- Click on the user’s profile.
- Navigate to the Audit tab.
- Select Bank Holidays tab.
What do I need to do?
Nothing! This feature is automated and works in the background based on each user’s assigned region. If you need to update someone’s region, you can do so within their profile.
Custom and Regional Public Holidays (Including International Teams)
The automated bank holiday calendar covers standard public holidays for users' assigned regions. However, for international teams and one-off dates (such as Eid Al Fitr, Japanese national holidays, or company-specific closure days), custom holidays need to be added manually.
How to request a custom or one-off public holiday
Raise a support ticket with the following information:
| Required field | Example |
| Holiday date | 19 March 2026 |
| Holiday name | Eid Al Fitr |
| Which users it applies to | All users where LOCATION_COUNTRY = 'United Arab Emirates' - OR specific named users / specific division |
| Whether caution/critical emails should also pause | Yes / No (see below) |
| ⚠️ Important: Lead time required | Custom holiday additions need to be requested at least 24 hours before the holiday date - ideally 48 hours for urgent dates. If the date is today or tomorrow and questions have already been dispatched, the support team will still add the holiday but affected users may have already received their questions for the day. |
Do caution and critical emails also pause on custom holidays?
By default, caution and critical emails (which are sent to managers when a user's knowledge score drops below a threshold) continue to be sent on bank holidays. If you would like these emails to also pause on a specific public holiday or for a specific user group, include this in your support request.
Setting up automated holiday calendars for international regions
If your organisation has a significant number of users in a country that is not covered by the standard regional calendar (e.g., Japan, India, UAE, France), speak to your Customer Success Manager about configuring a regional calendar for those users. This will apply holidays automatically without needing individual requests each time.
Checking a user's current holiday configuration
To verify which holidays are applied for a specific user, and whether a custom holiday was added correctly:
1. Go to People → select the user.
2. Navigate to the Audit tab → Bank Holidays tab.
3. All public holidays in the system for that user's region - including custom ones - will be listed here.
4. If a custom holiday is not showing, it may not have been applied yet. Contact support with the user's email and the holiday date.
