New Question Types: How to create an ordered answer question

Ordered answer questions lets users arrange the correct options in the proper sequence. This encourages deeper interaction with the tool and helps reinforce learning more effectively.

Creating a ordered answer question

  • Firstly navigate to the topic you are wanting to create the question in
  • Under interactive, select 'ordered answer' and click create question
Note 💡

You can only create the new question types one at a time; uploading them via an Excel document isn’t supported.

  • Enter your question into the question text
  • Navigate down to the 'Answer Options'. Ensure to put the answer in the correct order at this stage. Once they are delivered out to users, the order will be mixed up.
  • If you are needing to change the order in which you have already inputted, use the small arrows above the test in the answer boxes to change the order.

  • You can use images with this question type by turning the image option on or off using the toggle in the top right corner.

    Add a timer (Optional)

You can set a time limit on the question by enabling the Question Timer.

When enabled, learners will see a countdown timer and must answer within the time limit. If the timer runs out, the question will be marked as timed out.

The valid range is 15 to 120 seconds.

    Add an explanation

Enter an explanation to help learners understand the correct answer and why. This is shown after the learner answers, whether they answered correctly or not.

Write the explanation so it makes sense in both contexts — avoid phrases that only works if the learner answered correctly.

    Save and Activate

Click Save Changes. The question will be saved in a suspended state and will not be delivered to learners until you activate it.

When you are ready, click Activate in the top right corner to make the question live.

To create a similar question, click Clone Question to create a copy you can edit independently.
