How do I identify how often a question is repeating for a user?

The Repeats function in Cognexo lets you track which questions users are encountering multiple times and how frequently they recur. You can toggle this feature on or off to clearly identify the gaps between each occurrence.

Accessing the feature:

  • Go to the People tab in the top navigation bar
  • Search for the user and click View Details to open their profile
  • Click the Question History tab (Full history)
  • Enable the Repeats toggle

Note  The view filters to show only repeated questions. Each one displays the gap between deliveries, so you can see how the algorithm is spacing that content for that individual. You can also apply colour coding to make repeated questions easier to spot, and hide all non-repeating questions to focus the view entirely on what's cycling.

Why is a certain question repeating?

This is expected behaviour. Cognexo prioritises brand-new content first, followed by incorrectly answered questions, while also revisiting correctly answered content over time. For correct answers, the system reinforces learning at varying intervals, assessing whether the user still retains the knowledge by adjusting the time between repetitions. Once the system determines the user has mastered the content, the repetition frequency is gradually reduced.

A 7-day gap between the first and second time a question is delivered is a standard reinforcement interval. If a user has received the same question three times across more than 30 total question deliveries, this indicates the algorithm is functioning as intended.
