Overview
Things to check before installing the Teams client:
1 - Cognexo have your Tenant ID
2 - Users as setup in Cognexo use the same email address as the one used to login to teams. If this is not the case please discuss this with us so we can ensure users have access to their Cognexo Learning Progress.
Getting your Office 365 Tenant Id.
In order to license the Cognexo Teams Client to your organisation we need to know your Microsoft Tenant Id.
To find this, Log into Microsoft 365 admin Centre and select “Azure Active Directory”
Once in the Active Directory Admin Centre, select Overview where you can see your Tenant ID.
- Copy this ID and send it to your Cognexo Customer Success Manager. This will be used to ensure your corporate Teams client is linked to your Cognexo License.
Required Permissions
The screenshot below outlines the permissions you will be required to enable to install the Teams client.
Installing the Cognexo Teams Client
We will send you the Teams Client as a zip package. This then needs loading into your Corporate Teams Environment so that users can use the app.
Log into Microsoft 365 admin Centre and select the Teams Admin Centre and then select Teams apps, and Manage apps
You can now select ‘Upload’ and you can upload the zip file we have sent you with the teams client.
Once the upload is complete, you will be able to find the ‘Cognexo’ app in the list of installed apps and then view the details of the app.
You can then use the ‘Teams apps -> Setup policies’ section to assign the app to users in your organisation.
Users will also be able to see the app as being available to use within their teams client via the ‘Built for your org’ section.
Troubleshooting: Teams Notifications Not Arriving After Installation
If the app has been installed and assigned, but users are not receiving notifications, work through the following checks.
| Check | What to do |
| App assigned to users via Setup Policy? | Go to Teams Admin Centre → Teams Apps → Setup Policies. Confirm the Cognexo app is pinned/assigned to the users' policy. If you used the global (org-wide default) policy, check that the user is covered by it. |
| Do users' Cognexo emails match their Teams login emails exactly? | This is the most common cause of Teams integration failing for some but not all users. Check in People → the user's profile that the email matches the one they use to log in to Teams. Even capitalisation differences matter. |
| Are there Teams URL changes (teams.cloud.microsoft vs teams.microsoft.com)? | Some users on newer Teams clients are seeing errors when the app tries to load via the legacy URL. Contact Cognexo support with a screenshot of the error - a manifest update may be required. |
| Are outbound connections to Microsoft Bot Framework permitted? | The Cognexo Teams app uses the Microsoft Bot Framework for messaging. Ensure *.botframework.com and related Microsoft URLs are not blocked by your firewall or proxy. |
| 💡 Quick test | Ask a test user to type "Register" in the Cognexo Teams app chat. If registration is confirmed, the integration is working and notifications should follow. If they get an error, raise a support ticket with the error message. |
