New Question Types: How to create a match answer question

You can only create the new question types one at a time; uploading them via an Excel document isn’t supported.

Introduction

A match answer question is a question type that asks learners to pair items from one list with the correct items in another list. It is useful for checking understanding of related concepts, definitions, terms, dates or categories

Creating a match answer question

Firstly navigate to the topic you want to create the question in

Click on New Question

 

In the Create New Questions pop-up, select Match Answers and then click on Create Question 

Enter your question into the Question Text box

Scroll down to Answer Options

Fill in the rows as in the below image. The left and right columns must match. Once the question is sent to users, the order will be mixed up, but when creating the question, left and right should match

If you need to remove a row, click on the red trash button

You can also add images to the left and rights columns by toggling the Use Images for Option

  • If you want to put a time limit on the question, toggle on the Enable question timer in the Question Timer box

    You can limit the time to answer from 15 to 120 seconds

  • Add an Explanation that ideally confirms the correct matches and click on Save Changes

    Activating questions

    Scroll back to the top of the screen and click on Activate Question in the Question Editor box
