| This guide explains how Public Holiday Management works in Cognexo, which stops questions being sent to users on public holidays so they do not lose their streaks. For most accounts, where everyone is in the same country, admins just need to select the correct country and enable the relevant dates. For accounts with users spread across multiple countries, admins instead create a custom "Public Holiday" tag via Tag Management, set up a tag-specific rule, and then apply that tag to individual user profiles — or use a bulk upload for larger groups. Public Holiday Management isn't currently available to customers directly (so a Customer Success Manager must make changes on their behalf). |
Public Holidays on Cognexo
To prevent users from losing their streaks, we do not send out Cognexo questions on public holidays.
Cognexo stores names and dates of upcoming public holidays for all countries, regions and territories across the globe, and we use the Public Holiday Management tab to ensure that all users are scheduled the appropriate public holidays for the location they are in.
We can use Public Holiday Management to schedule:
- Default public holidays for accounts
- Public holidays for Individual Cognexo users
| Please note: Public Holiday Management is not currently available to customers, so please contact your Customer Success Manager if you need to make any amendments to users’ public holidays. |
- Default Public Holidays: Accounts
For most accounts, all the users are based in one country and so have the same public holidays. In these cases, we just need to check that the correct country is selected for the account and that the relevant dates are enabled.
As you can see in the example account below, the UK public holidays are Enabled for 2026-2027. This means that questions will not be sent out to users on those dates.
| To send out questions on a public holiday, simply untick the Enabled box |
Changing Public Holidays
To change the upcoming public holidays on an account:
- Click on Change Company Holiday Base Set in the top right corner of the above image. This will then prompt the below Change Company Level Public Holiday Rule pop-up box:
- We choose the relevant location from the Select a Country dropdown list and then click on Save Changes
In the above example, we have selected Turkey and so the default public holiday dates have now changed to the below:
Additional and Custom Holidays
Scrolling down the Public Holiday Management page, we can also add:
- Public Holidays from other regions
- Custom holidays that are specific to a company
To add another region's public holiday:
- Scroll down to Additional Holidays from other base sets included in your companies default base set
- Click on the drop-down arrow and press Include Holidays From Another Base Set
In this example, we have selected India's Independence Day:
After clicking on Save Changes, we can see that India's Independence Day has now been added to the list of public holidays
We can also add custom holidays by scrolling down and clicking on Custom Holidays included in your companies default base set
- Click on the drop down arrow and press Add A Custom Holiday
- In the pop-up, give the holiday a title and date and click on Save Changes
This holiday is now added to the account, and so questions will not go out on October 19:
2. Public Holidays: Individual Cognexo Users
|
To view a user’s upcoming public holidays in their profile, click on Audit and Public Holidays |
The previous section of this guide covers accounts where all the users have the same default public holidays. But what about accounts where users are located across different regions?
An account in which most of the users are based in the UK could also have some users located in, for example, Argentina. In this case, we need to ensure that the upcoming public holidays are scheduled according to the country each user is in.
As most of the users on our example account are based in the UK, the default setting is for UK public holidays, but we also need to ensure that those in Argentina do not receive questions on Argentinian public holidays.
This is managed through Tag Management as we will need to create a New Tag just for users based in Argentina.
- Click on Tag Management (not available to all admins)
- In the Company Tag Management page, we click on New Tag in the top right corner:
- In the Create New Tag pop-up, click on the Purpose drop-down and select User Attribute
As in the image below, we have given the tag the Display Name ‘Public Holiday’ and made the tag Editable, Visible on the Intelligence Portal and have included it as a column on Export files.
When we click Create, the new Public Holiday is now added to all the other tags in Company Tag Management:
Once the Public Holiday tag is added to Company Tag Management, we then need to use the tag to allocate public holidays to the Argentinian users:
- Click on Public Holiday Management (not available to all users)
- Scroll down to Tag Specific Holiday Settings for Cognexo
- Click on Add A New Tag Specific Rule
In the pop-up box, select Public Holiday click on the + button to reveal the regions:
In the below example, we have chosen Argentina as the Value and selected Argentina’s public holidays as the base set.
To then change an individual user’s public holidays to match Argentina’s:
Click on the People tab and open the user’s profile.
Click on User Management, find the newly-created Public Holiday box, and type Argentina
- Click on Save Changes and OK
The user has now been allocated Argentina’s public holidays:
The manual process is best for a handful of individual users, but if you need to update multiple users with new public holiday dates then an upload file would be better.
